Inside our monthly wine subscription: April 2026

April's Vinito box is here - and this month we've gone full technicolour. Think a zippy, lightly sparkling Portuguese Vinho Verde that practically tastes of sunshine, a golden Italian white made from a grape you've almost certainly never heard of, a natural orange wine from Provence that's going to make you question every wine rule you thought you knew, a vibrant Southern Rhône rosé bursting with wildflowers and red berries, a bold Puglian red with all the warmth of an Italian summer, and a juicy Spanish red that is dangerously drinkable.

Six canned wines. Six different countries. Zero snobbery.

All of these land on your doorstep as part of our monthly canned wine subscription - with tasting notes written by me, Louisa, so you can pop open each can with a bit of context rather than just guessing. Here's everything in the April box, ordered from lightest to boldest, plus exactly how to enjoy each one. 🍇

1. Gatão Vinho Branco, Portugal 🍋

  • Tastes like: bright citrus, crisp green apple and a delicate wash of floral softness - all wrapped in the gentlest, most refreshing natural sparkle
  • Pairs with: grilled prawns, sushi, shellfish, summer salads, olives, salty snacks, or absolutely nothing at all - this is an aperitif in a can
  • Insider intel: Gatão is one of Portugal's most iconic wine brands, making wine since 1905 in the Vinho Verde Demarcated Region of northern Portugal. This Vinho Branco is made from a blend of five classic Portuguese grapes — Azal, Pedernã, Trajadura, Avesso and Loureiro — grown on granitic soils that give the wine its distinctive mineral snap. At just 9% ABV, it's the lightest pour in the April box, and that gentle natural sparkle makes it one of the most immediately refreshing things you can crack open on a warm spring evening. The name "Vinho Verde" translates as "green wine" — not because of the colour, but because it's designed to be drunk young and fresh, when all those lively citrus and floral notes are at their brightest. Serve it very cold. Enjoy immediately. Repeat as needed.
  • Food Pairing: Jamie Oliver's creamy prawn linguine, smoky pancetta, plump prawns and mascarpone tossed with linguine. The Gatão's zippy acidity cuts right through the creaminess. Perfect.

2. Attimo Craft Winery Solei, Friuli-Venezia-Giulia, Italy 🌞

Attimo Craft Winery Solei 200ml canned white wine — golden Italian white from Friulia

  • Tastes like: tropical fruit and floral blossom, with notes of almond and citrus and a clean, minerally finish - golden, sunny and full of personality
  • Pairs with: grilled scallops, goat's cheese, fresh pasta with lemon and basil, antipasti, light summer salads
  • Insider intel: Solei is made from 100% Soreli, a hybrid grape variety whose name means "sunshine" in the local Friulian dialect - and it really does taste like it. Created by winemakers Andrea Pippo and Morris Carr at Attimo Craft Winery in Friuli-Venezia-Giulia in north-east Italy, this wine is something a bit different. Soreli is a relatively new crossing, bred to be naturally disease-resistant (meaning fewer interventions in the vineyard) and it produces wines with a vibrancy and tropical fruitiness that's genuinely exciting. The wine is SQNPI certified - that's Italy's sustainable farming standard - and is both vegan-friendly and gluten-free. At 12.5%, it sits in the middle of the box by strength, but it drinks light and easy, with a freshness that makes it work brilliantly as both an aperitif and a food wine. Dangerously drinkable is not an overstatement.
  • Try with: creamy, tangy, lemony pasta that's everything the Solei was built for. The almond notes in the wine are brilliant alongside the goat's cheese.

Try the sunshine grape

3. Mad Med L'Orange, Provence, France 🍊

Mad Med L'Orange 250ml canned orange wine — natural Vermentino from Provence

  • Tastes like: citrus blossom, poached quince and Mediterranean herbs - fragrant, fresh and textured, with bright acidity and a whisper of gentle tannin on the finish
  • Pairs with: grilled fish, roast chicken, seafood salads, antipasti, or a long aperitif hour with good company
  • Insider intel: if you've been orange wine-curious but haven't made the leap yet, this is the one. Mad Med is a project from the team behind Domaine de la Mongestine in Provence - and they make natural, wild-fermented, unfiltered, low-sulphur wine in a can. This is what "natural wine" actually means: minimal intervention, no heavy-handed additives, just grapes doing what grapes do when you let them. L'Orange is made from 100% Vermentino, a grape with deep Mediterranean roots (it's beloved in Sardinia, Corsica, and Provence) that produces wines with a natural herbal character and bright mineral edge. The orange colour comes from skin contact - leaving the grape skins in the juice during fermentation, which is how white wines were made for centuries before cold steel tanks came along. The result is a wine that sits beautifully between a white and a rosé: fresher and drier than you might expect, with a gentle textural quality that makes it extraordinary with food. Louisa's note: this is one of her personal go-to wines all year round. It earns its place in the box every time.
  • Food pairing: Spice Crusted Salmon — MOB Kitchen - cumin and coriander-crusted salmon with grilled chicory and herby rice. The L'Orange's herbal notes and citrus brightness are absolutely made for this. Mediterranean meeting Mediterranean.

4. La Ruchette Dorée Rosé, Côtes du Rhône, France 🌸

La Ruchette Dorée Côtes du Rhône 250ml canned rosé - Southern French rosé with strawberry and wildflower

  • Tastes like: redcurrant, strawberry and wildflower - vibrant, luscious and full of fruit, with a beautifully balanced, easy-drinking finish
  • Pairs with: BBQ, grilled chicken, picnic food, summer salads, charcuterie, soft cheeses, or any outdoor occasion that calls for rosé
  • Insider intel: this one comes from the Southern Rhône, where the blend of Grenache (85%), Cinsault (10%) and Syrah (5%) is a classic combination for good reason. The winemaker is Eric Monnin, and the can design - featuring the wild lavender, rosemary and olive trees of the local garrigue landscape - is honestly one of my favourite things in the box this month. But it's the wine that matters. La Ruchette Dorée is made using traditional methods: gentle pressing and cool-temperature fermentation to extract as much aroma, colour and delicate fruit character as possible with minimal tannin. The result is a proper Provence-adjacent rosé with real depth - not just a pretty pink pour. It's vegan-friendly, gluten-free and 13% ABV, which puts it right in the sweet spot for a glass (or two) in the garden. The wildflower notes on the nose are genuinely beautiful.
  • Food Pairing: Salmon en Croûte — Olive Magazine - herby butter, flaky salmon, golden pastry. This rosé is the ideal companion — structured enough for the richness of the pastry, fresh enough to cut right through it. Serve with a green salad and consider yourself sorted.

Pour the rosé

5. When In Rome Primitivo, Puglia, Italy 🍒

When In Rome Primitivo 187ml canned red wine — bold Italian red from Puglia

  • Tastes like: ripe cherries, prunes and wild fruit, with subtle chocolatey undertones - full-bodied, smooth and deeply satisfying, with all the warmth of southern Italy in a can
  • Pairs with: hearty pasta dishes, grilled meats, aged cheeses, or anything you'd describe as "a proper dinner"
  • Insider intel: Primitivo is Italy's answer to Zinfandel - the same grape, different name, wildly different personality depending on where it's grown. In Puglia, in the deep south of Italy, it produces wines that are ripe, generous and full of sun-soaked fruit, with a natural smoothness that makes them immediately approachable even when they're full-bodied. When In Rome's version is exactly that: 100% Primitivo from the rolling hills of Puglia, made to be bold but drinkable, packed with dark cherries and prunes with those distinctive hints of chocolate that make Primitivo such a crowd-pleaser. At 13.5%, it's the second strongest pour in the box - but because it's well-balanced and smooth rather than tannic and chewy, it drinks more easily than the ABV might suggest. The tip? Serve it ever so slightly chilled — about 10–15 minutes in the fridge before opening. It brings out the fruit and tames the heat just enough to make it absolutely sing.
  • Food Pairing: Marmite Beef Ragù with Pappardelle — MOB Kitchen - slow-cooked, deeply savoury and rich. The Primitivo's cherry fruit and chocolatey depth are the perfect counterpoint to a properly good ragù. This is what Sunday evenings were made for.

6. Wallflower Tempranillo Cabernet Sauvignon, La Mancha, Spain 🫐

Wallflower Tempranillo Cabernet Sauvignon 187ml canned red wine — juicy Spanish red from La Mancha

  • Tastes like: ripe blackberry, blackcurrant and a hint of sweet spice - juicy, plush and velvety on the palate, with just enough structure to keep every sip interesting
  • Pairs with: grilled red meats, roasted vegetables, hearty stews, blue cheese, charcuterie, or a relaxed evening in good company
  • Insider intel: La Mancha is the largest wine region in the world, stretching across the sun-baked plains of central Spain - and it's where Wallflower gets its personality. Tempranillo is Spain's signature red grape (it's the backbone of Rioja) and here it's blended with Cabernet Sauvignon to create something that's approachable and smooth but also genuinely characterful. Tempranillo brings the spice-edged dried fruit and depth; Cabernet Sauvignon brings luscious blackberry and a bit of backbone. Together, they make a red that's fruit-forward and plush without being heavy. At 11% ABV, it's actually the lightest red in the April box by strength - which makes it brilliantly flexible. It works with food, it works without food, and it's the kind of wine that people who say they don't like red wine often love. Don't let the name fool you: this wine absolutely shows up.
  • Food pairing: Slow Cooked Lamb Shoulder — MOB Kitchen - tender, pullable lamb with Parmesan butter beans and a sharp herb salsa. The Wallflower's juicy blackberry fruit and gentle spice are a textbook match for slow-cooked lamb. A proper weekend dinner.

Meet the Spanish red

That's your April box 🍷

Six wines from six regions — Portugal, northern Italy, Provence, the Southern Rhône, Puglia and La Mancha — all in cans, all ready to open without ceremony. A sparkling Vinho Verde, a sunshine Italian white, a natural orange wine, a wildflower rosé, a bold Puglian red and a juicy Spanish blend. That's quite a line-up.

Frequently asked questions about the Vinito wine subscription

What is the Vinito monthly wine subscription?

Vinito is a monthly canned wine subscription based in the UK. Each month, founder Louisa hand-picks six canned wines from producers around the world - typically a mix of whites, rosés and reds from regions including Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Chile, Austria and more. Every box comes with tasting notes written by Louisa, food pairing suggestions, and recipe links so you can get the most from each wine. It's designed for people who love discovering new wines without the pressure of committing to a full bottle.

How much does the Vinito subscription cost?

A monthly subscription is £38 per month. You can also order a one-off box for £40 without subscribing. Subscriptions can be paused or cancelled at any time.

Why canned wine?

Canned wine gets a bad reputation it doesn't deserve. The wines in each Vinito box are the same quality you'd expect from a bottle - often from small, independent producers with real stories behind them. Cans are better for the environment than glass, more practical for picnics, garden evenings and festivals, and they mean you can enjoy a single glass without worrying about finishing a bottle. It's wine that fits around your life.

Is a Vinito subscription good for wine tasting at home?

Yes - it's one of the easiest ways to do structured wine tasting at home without any expertise required. Because each box contains six different wines with tasting notes and food pairings, you can work through them properly: taste each one, compare them, try the suggested pairings. No specialist kit needed. Just six cans, some snacks, and a bit of curiosity.

Can I buy a Vinito box as a wine gift subscription?

Absolutely. A Vinito subscription makes a brilliant gift — especially for wine lovers who are curious about canned wine, people who live alone and don't always want to open a full bottle, or anyone who likes discovering new wines without the faff. We offer gifted subscriptions alongside personal ones. Find out more about gifting a Vinito subscription →

What makes Vinito different from other wine subscription boxes in the UK?

Most wine subscription boxes send bottles. Vinito sends cans - which means more flexibility in how and when you drink your wines and a lighter environmental footprint. Every wine is personally chosen by Louisa, with tasting notes she writes herself rather than copy-pasted producer descriptions. It's a more personal, more curious, more fun take on the wine subscription model.
