The Liberator This is the Sea is a rare South African expression of Albariño (or Alvarinho), a grape more often found in Spain’s Rías Baixas or northern Portugal. Originally imported from UC Davis in California and planted as an experimental block, this parcel almost vanished into a generic Sauvignon Blanc blend - until Rick rescued it.

The result is a vibrant, distinctive white with fresh acidity, notes of lime, lemon and green apple, and a subtle saline edge that nods to its coastal origins. Full-bodied with firm structure yet refreshingly bright, it’s a wine that feels like a sea breeze in a glass.

Perfect alongside oysters, grilled prawns, or a simple plate of calamari with lemon.
